New Summer 2021: WASP has collaborated with Laramie County Community College (LCCC), Albany Count Campus (ACC) to offer a one day Bushcraft 101 class on Saturday July 17th in Laramie, WY. This course focuses on survival basics and using primitive methods to increase your chances of survival.
Travel into the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming for hands on training. Course work is taught on the four basics of survival: shelter ,water, fire, and food. These are four key ingredients to keeping you alive.
*Students will learn short term shelter building methods and discussion will be held on long term shelter.
*Students will be shown how to locate and purify water through several different methods and will boil water in the field to prepare a freeze dried lunch.
*Multiple primitive and modern fire starting techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. After this section of the course students should never have to rely on that Bick or book of matches that are soaking wet from a fall in the river or walk through the rain.
*We will discuss and practice hunting and gathering techniques including locating wild edibles, hunting, trapping, and fishing. Students will be shown how to set snares, make dead fall traps, fish traps, and more. Construction and use primitive weapons is also covered in this section.
*A freeze-dried survival style lunch will be provided in the field.
*Students take home a Swedish made bushcraft/fire knife!
All items listed above will be taught to you with a hands on approach so you won't just be listening to an instructor, you will be creating these items right along side them.
Class size is a maximum of 10 students to ensure a personalized experience. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
